I was speaking to someone recently from the hotel industry about ways in which they could improve digital signage. Typically when you go into a hotel lobby and do see screens, it's normally really just advertising and self-promotion. But if you wanted to make that really useful, just put yourself into the shoes of a new guest who might not be familiar with the local area, of the amenities of the hotel and maybe put up a simple QR code to a guide or show recommendations locally that they could easily get to on foot, maybe some transport information and things like that. I think often we obsess too much about content that we create and actually some of the best content and most helpful content is all around you. And that reflects back on you as being helpful. So if you really want to know what a guest might like to see, just put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself the basic questions. And I think you'd be surprised just how much you could put up on a screen and how much goodwill you would get as a result.
