I think consumer screens and USB sticks get unfairly criticised in the digital signage community. They're actually brilliant for testing use cases cheaply and getting content up quickly to see what works. The professional digital signage community tends to frown upon the use of consumer screens or even USB sticks stuck into the back of those screens playing a playlist of images. I actually think they're fine. Here's why. Customers are trying out the use case. They're experimenting very cheap and excessively, getting their content up onto screen and seeing if that has actually got the impact on their customers or their employees or their students. And there is nothing wrong with that. They will soon hit a stumbling block in terms of scaling out that network, making it easy to swap out the content. But what they're really doing is showing that the screen can work in the first place and maybe winning over some of the naysayers in their own business to show that screens is actually a great communication platform.
