AI and Digital Signage: Enhancing Health and Safety

8 October 20251:15

I explore the potential of using AI in digital signage to prevent health and safety incidents. By responsibly analysing CCTV data, we can dynamically adjust content to address emerging issues. This innovative approach could become standard in the coming years.

Key Takeaways

  • AI can enhance safety by analysing CCTV footage to detect issues.
  • Dynamic content adjustment could prevent incidents in real-time.
  • Responsible data use is crucial to maintain privacy and effectiveness.

I was asked recently if AI could help in digital signage prevent health and safety incidents from happening. This one is a little tricky because inevitably, we would need to be processing footage of the environment and recording what's actually going on there if we were gonna try and prevent things. It's possible that we could do this through data. So if we start to see the speed of tasks being done at a unusual rate, it may be that someone's cutting a corner and we want to influence that by changing the content. But in reality, it's probably gonna come from some form of camera feed. Now, almost every manufacturing plant, for example, is using CCTV already. So we are monitoring that environment. And I think so long as we do this responsibly and we are not picking on people specifically unless they're doing something really wrong, then actually, I think we can use this information to start to influence the content dynamically using AI to help prevent and inform when we can see that things are starting to go wrong. This has to be handled very, very sensitively. We've not ever done this before, but the technology is in place to do it. So I think it's a really interesting thing to keep considering. And I would imagine that within the next couple of years, this will be commonplace.
